The title is a play on words that refers to the band’s third album and to the psychiatry book DSM-III (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). The band found in the process of recording the best medicine to escape mental illness due to the cancellation of all their tours (over a 100 shows). During the pandemic the band came to produce three full albums.
The first one is a live session album called Live Alert that the band released in November 2020. This album is simply the band’s live set recorded in the studio. To the band’s surprise, it became Dirty Sound Magnet’s most successful album. The positive reception from both fans and critics encouraged the band to record the band’s next album in similar fashion; the focus being on the band"s live energy and chemistry while keeping the production simple. DSM-III encompasses all the energy and madness that should have been unleashed on stage for 2 years.
Groovy, psychedelic, mystical and frantic, DSM-III is a hell of a ride for rockers looking for something that sounds a little different.
